SIDDC General Council Meeting Reports

Staten Island Developmental Disabilities Council (SIDDC) held its monthly meeting on Friday, March 19, at the Elizabeth Connolly Center in S.I. The meeting was chaired by Elizabeth Fromkin, Chairperson of the SIDDC. Opening reports were made by John Acito, New York City Dept. of Health & Mental Hygiene, and Richard Monck, OMRDD Acting Director, Staten Island Developmental Disabilities Services Office (SIDDSO). Special presenters were Richard Pierri, Executive Director of the Inter-Agency Council of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities Agencies who provided information on the Interagency Council and also an update on how the New York State Budget may be inpacting the developmental disabilities agencies.  Josephine Marino of HealthPlus also provided health coverage opportunities for families who do not have Medicaid Waiver Services.  A variety of committee reports were made during this meeting and attendees were encouraged to visit the SIDDC Website: www.SIDDC.org for more details and council information. Staten Island Developmental Disabilities Council held it's Annual Legislative Breakfast  at the Staaten Restaurant with over 390 attendees.  To review the SIDDC position paper you may click on the link provided on the home page.  The next SIDDC General Council meeting will be held on March 19 at the Elizabeth Connolly Center.

Staten Island Developmental Disabilities Council (SIDDC) on Friday, January 22, at the Elizabeth Connolly Center in S.I.  The meeting was chaired by Dr. Christine Cea, 1st Vice Chair of the Council Board.  Update reports were made by William Lopez, Associate Commissioner, New York City Dept. of Health & Mental Hygiene, and Richard Monck, OMRDD Acting Director, Staten Island Developmental Disabilities Services Office (SIDDSO). Special presenters were Christopher Carapolo, NYC Parks Department and  Stephanie Gutierrez, Urban Park Rangers who drew attention to the Greenbelt Recreation Center and The Natural Classroom, education programs provided at Nature Centers in New York City.  An announcement was made to remind attendees of the SIDDC Legislative Breakfast being held at the Staaten Restaurant on February 12 -- reservations are required.  A variety of committee reports were made during this meeting and attendees were encouraged to visit the SIDDC Website:  www.SIDDC.org for more details and council information.  The next SIDDC General Council meeting will be held on March 19 at the Elizabeth Connolly Center.
